Bonjour! My name is Laryssa Bonacquisti (Fun Fact: it's Italian and means "Good Purchase"). Although I currently live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, my heart will always be home in Dallas, Texas. I am a 19-year old determined to make my mark in the world of Broadcast Journalism.
My journey began in High School, when I became the lead anchor and reporter for the live news program every morning. I began creating news segments that spread the word about breast cancer awareness, kept students aware of the world around them, and supported organizations and activities within the school. I realized that being a part of the media is far greater than simply sitting in front of a camera and reading off of a teleprompter. Journalism holds the key that the public needs to keep them aware of events that might have a direct affect on their lives.
Determination and belief in myself came through when I discovered my passions. Like people, dreams come in all different forms, and, although my primary focus lies in Broadcast Journalism, I spend much of my time speaking on the importance of discovering the unique gift of every person in order to help them succeed. Using my own story of how I overcame bullying due to the fact that I possessed gifts that varied greatly from those of my peers and my ventriloquism, I educate people of all ages on not only the journey to discovering their gift, but also the significance of accepting and supporting the gifts of others. My program is entitled "Unique By Design".
I currently study Mass Communication with a focus in Broadcast Journalism at Louisiana State University. With a minor in Political Science, I will attend Law School, and, using my knowledge of the law and all of its components, I plan on introducing the future leaders of America as a Political News Anchor.
